GRAPHICS ENGINEERING I
Graphics Engineering students will think of and enforce ways to save resources in both our classroom and school.
WAYS TO SAVE RESOURCES AND ENERGY
PAPER AND INK:
We need to reduce the amount of mis-prints which waste paper and ink.
Peer-Editing - This year, we began having peer editors for each assignment. Each peer editor was responsible for checking the work of his/her partner before printing. The editor looked for gramatical and print preview errors and also provided valuable design feedback. This prevented printing "mess ups" which waste ink and toner.
Digital Handouts: This year we have moved on from printed design briefs. All project outlines are available on the G drive (accessible to all students). Other information such as student examples, rubrics, etc. are available on this weebly site. How much paper will this save?
Well, I have 3 graphics classes with 22 students in each. Each student on average will receive 15 design briefs and 15 rubrics which is 30 sheets of paper (At LEAST) per year. 66 students times 30 sheets of paper is 1980 sheets of paper. This will also save ink. Those cartirdges are expensive!
ENERGY:
Shutting Down: Students make it a habit to SHUT DOWN/Power off at the end of each period. This is ESPECIALLY important to do at the end of the school day.
Lights and Power: I make an effort to turn off all lights and check to see that all computer and moniters are turned off at the end of every school day.
ANY OTHER IDEAS ARE WELCOME!
