Collage Advertizement. Students used only magazines, paper, scissors and glue to create a one page ad for a product, event, or brand. We discussed the elements and principles of design in detail. Students listed the two elements and one principle of design that was most prominent within their ads.
Flyer Design - Single Page Publications
This is Andy's flyer, marketing Mack's Pizza. Andy used contrast, shape, repitition. He also engaged the reader by offerinig free pizza to the first 50 people at his grand opening!

Tri-Fold Brochure 1 - Choose a business, organization, college, organization, etc. and research. Create a paper template and begin thinking about how you will organize your information and images. You may use a template for this assignment.
THAYER STREET Visitor's Guide Brochure and Blog
With a group, explore Thayer Street! This street is nested on the East Side of Providence, RI near RISD, Brown University, Moses Brown and Wheeler School. There are many small businesses such as Berks, Pie in the Sky and East Side Pockets as well as corporate businesses such as Starbucks and Urban Outfitters. Research your assigned categories and talk with your group, Share and upload images to use in your brochure and organize your information. Remember to use Photoshop to edit your photographs!

Album Art Design
CD's may be obsolete but album art design is not! Students designed album art (what you would see when purchasing a song or album on ITUNES) as well as an album sleeve (records are making a comeback). We discuss potential graphic design careers in the music industry. Students design and print a tee-shirt based on their artist and album art as well.

Logo Design with a Twist...
Candy Bar Wrapper
This was another complex template! Students brought in a candybar of their choice with a paper wrapper. They measured the length adn width of the bar. They also needed to know the side thickness. We made a template in Adobe Photoshop. Students learned how to view rulers and work with guidelines and layers in Photoshop. Students were required to include all necessary packaging information such as net weight, ingredients, allergy and nutrition information, and more!
